Meet Your Artist!
Kayla Dee, raised amidst the serene landscapes of Northern Minnesota, has always thrived on self-expression through a kaleidoscope of artistic outlets. While drawing and painting have long been her trusted companions, a sudden whirlwind romance with sewing opened up a brand-new universe of creativity—turning old fabrics and forgotten pieces into fresh, vibrant treasures. With her husband by her side, she embarks on thrifting and antiquing adventures, hunting for gems to breathe new life into.
Maybe the joy that upcycling and recycling brings her, stems from growing up around it. Her parents were proud business owners of a local garbage and recycling hauling company, a legacy her oldest brother still carries on today. She vividly remembers her dad embracing the timeless notion: “Another man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” And wow, did she ever run with it! That playful spirit of turning discarded scraps into something fresh and fabulous is not just a hobby—it’s in her DNA. With every stitch and every seam, she’s honoring that family tradition by transforming the forgotten into streetwear gold. At Re-KDC, we celebrate that same energy, turning reclaimed materials into handcrafted, deconstructed streetwear that’s as unique and vibrant as the stories behind them.
Over time, Kayla has embraced a bold philosophy: she doesn't chase fleeting fashion fads but designs what truly speaks to her spirit. Each creation is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, impossible to part with because, in Kayla’s world, you wear your clothes, they don’t wear you!
